Strategic Practice Acquisitions
TOVA is building a national platform for retirement division in divorce.
We are interested in confidential conversations with established QDRO, pension valuation, and retirement division professionals who want continuity for their clients, a stronger operating platform, and a serious home for the practice they built.
What You Are Joining
A National Retirement Division Platform
Retirement division is becoming more specialized, more technical, and more difficult for law firms to manage with general vendor support.
TOVA is building a national platform focused only on retirement division in divorce: QDRO preparation, forensic tracing, pension valuation, records discovery guidance, settlement language review, and plan-specific retirement issues.
The first acquisition brought the Colorado QDRO practice of Thomas Toxby into TOVA, expanding our retirement division work in Colorado and strengthening our national reach.
We are open to conversations with established professionals who have built trusted practices and want their clients, referral relationships, and work product protected under a larger specialized platform.
Why Join the TOVA Platform
Client Continuity
Your clients and referral sources need a smooth transition, not a handoff into a generic document shop. TOVA provides the infrastructure, team, and process to keep the work moving.
Operational Support
Our team handles intake, coordination, billing, workflow, communication, and case management so the technical work is supported by a real operating system.
Specialized National Brand
TOVA is known for retirement division in divorce. The platform is built around QDROs, forensic tracing, pension valuation, records discovery, settlement language review, and plan-specific issues.
Reputation Protection
You spent years building trust. We are interested in preserving that trust, not diluting it. The right acquisition should protect your clients, referral sources, and professional reputation.
What We Look For
TOVA acquires QDRO and retirement-division practices that meet a specific profile.
Reputable practitioners with depth
People who have been in this work for many years and built a reputation for quality.
Established client and attorney loyalty
Trust earned over time from the clients they served and the attorneys who referred to them.
Trust that transfers naturally
Trust that carries to TOVA without anyone having to be re-convinced about the new home.
We have had many confidential conversations. We move forward only when the fit is right for the practice owner, the clients, and the attorneys who referred to them. We screen carefully because the trust you built is the asset we are joining.
The Colorado Story
In 2025, TOVA acquired the Colorado QDRO practice of Thomas Toxby, a highly respected retirement division professional with more than 20 years of experience and thousands of completed court orders.
The acquisition expanded TOVA's Colorado presence and brought Tom's experience into a larger national platform with intake support, case coordination, QDRO preparation, pension valuation, and forensic retirement services under one roof.
For attorneys and clients, the goal was simple: preserve the quality of the existing practice while giving it stronger infrastructure, broader support, and long-term continuity.
That is the model we are building.
What an Acquisition Conversation Looks Like
No surprises. The full path is named up front.
Confidential conversation
One call. No commitment. We talk through your practice, your timeline, your client continuity priorities.
Practice review
Under NDA. Two to three weeks. We look at the work, the referral pipeline, the technical work, and the operating shape.
Structured offer
Transition plan, earn-out terms, and name preservation in writing. You see the full structure before deciding.
Transition
Your clients keep their relationships. We add the platform, the operating system, and the reach.
The Capabilities That Come With the Platform
Your work product enters a platform already built and published.
Court-defensible forensic tracing. Deep records recovery older than seven years. The one-firm approach from records to court order. Cross-border retirement division. A disciplined approach to hidden retirement assets.
Plus TOVA's published-work footprint: NYSBA Family Law Review (August 2023, December 2018), ACFLS Journal (Summer 2025), Beyond the Bar Podcast across five seasons, and the weekly E-Tip practice reaching over 6,000 divorce attorneys.
Your practice does not disappear into a roll-up. It joins a platform attorneys already cite.
TOVA's first acquisition brought the Colorado QDRO practice of Thomas Toxby in-house, adding federal-orders depth and continuity of service for his clients.

Most QDRO professionals built their practice over 20+ years with no succession plan. The standard path is to close the door, refer the rolodex out, and watch decades of trust disperse.
TOVA is the alternative to closing the door. Your clients keep working with someone they recognize, your referral attorneys keep getting served at the same standard, and your approach lives on inside a platform that cites your work.
